How and where did you first meet? How long have you been together?

"We first met at our shared friends 21st birthday in Melbourne. Our first interaction was me making fun of Bel’s snort when she laughed at jokes made during the speeches. That was in 2018 so we have been together for 7 years."

Tell us about your proposal, how did you propose?

"I tried to propose in Kyoto Gardens in Holland Park, however, it was a lot smaller than I expected and swamped with people so I started to freak out and almost walked laps of Holland Park aimlessly (Bel hates aimless walking and just wanted to go to the pub) until I found a secluded oak tree with a park bench to drop the knee next to."

What was your inspiration behind your engagement ring?

"Bel loves to be different and yellow is her favourite colour so this made complete sense."

How did you find the bespoke process and our services?

"We struggled for a while to find the perfect yellow stone, trying in London, Melbourne and even New York whilst travelling on a 6 month trip around the world. Holts was able to provide multiple options which fitted our ideas. Then the seamless process of designing the setting made the whole experience fantastic. Simei was elite to work with throughout the whole time!"

What was your favourite part of the process?

"Picking it up and seeing it in person for the first time and then proposing a few hours later was so so special and a day I’ll never forget. The other part was the ability to coordinate with Simei via video calls while we were in South America to select the gem and finalise the design was very special. This flexibility shown by Holts is a testament to their ability to cater to the customers situation and timing constraints."

What would be your one piece of advice for couples looking for an engagement ring?

Try and organise it in person, but if your situation doesn’t allow that, it’s absolutely possible to arrange remotely with the right jeweller.
