"Make something perfect for the love of my life"

How and where did you first meet? And how long have you been together?

Becks and I met in a club on 17th Feb 2024. Been together for just over two years.

Tell us about your proposal, how did you propose?

Since meeting, we have gone clubbing lots and built up a lovely community of like-minded friends. I decided our proposal should reflect both of those things. We arranged a weekend holiday to Berlin with 10 of our friends and I proposed to Becks in our favourite nightclub. It was perfect!

What was your inspiration behind your engagement ring?

I wanted something individual and meaningful. Becks is half English and half Sri Lankan and her family surname is Moonesinghe. She told me in the past that she loves moonstones so I decided that should be the main gemstone in the ring, and I made sure that it was from Sri Lanka, to reflect her roots. The team at Holts Gems suggested we supplement it with tiny Sri Lankan sapphires too and they looked gorgeous so I incorporated them into the ring design.

How did you find the bespoke process and our services?

The team at Holts Gems were wonderful. It really helped me to compare different ring designs and stones, so I could experiment with them and come up with the perfect design.

What was your favourite part of the process?

I enjoyed piecing together the perfect ring with the perfect gem. I loved picking out additional sapphires and marking on the ring itself the exact spot I wanted them set. I liked that I could custom design every aspect of the ring and make something perfect for the love of my life. 

What would be your one piece of advice for couples looking for an engagement ring?

Look at lots of options of rings and gems and have a play. It is really satisfying working out what style works with what gemstones and creating something unique!
