Holts Gems are a 2nd generation family business

Over 70 years of experience shows with our talented craftsmen working in our on-site lapidary, and all of our gemstones meticulously appraised by our qualified gemmologists

Holts Gems was established in 1948 by Mr R Holt who was a pre-war Jewish refugee from Vienna. Mr Holt arrived in London aged 16 and began to work as an apprentice diamond polisher in Clerkenwell, where the diamonds for the present Queens engagement were being cut and polished! He soon developed ambitions outside of diamond polishing and took up the lease of 98 Hatton Garden - a lease that Holts have just renewed for another 20 years!

We remain a family business over 70+ years later and we still have the same beliefs as our founder:

Sourcing precious coloured gemstones

Supporting traditional British master craftsmanship

Creating unique gemstone jewellery designs

Putting our customers first by sharing our knowledge

Holts Gems Shop

The hub of the family business since 1948 and one of the longest established jewellery stores in Hatton Garden.

Known as London’s Jewellery Quarter, the area around Hatton Garden has been the centre of London’s jewellery trade since way back in the mists of medieval time. Hatton Garden remains today largely devoted to this ancient profession.

What you see is the Holts Gems shop, but inside houses our lapidary workshop and craftsmen, qualified gemmologists and jewellery designers. We like to keep to local - the London Assay office where all our bespoke jewellery is hallmarked, is a mere 2 minute walk away from our shop.

Our window display currently represents a fissure in a rock and represents our lapidary and stone cutting expertise.

We are a team of gemmologists, designers, lapidaries and jewellery lovers.

Holts Gems are committed to delivering the finest in gemstones and jewellery.
