"No hesitation on where to buy our wedding rings"

Five years ago this week, I joined Match.com as I became disillusioned with free dating sites and trying to find someone who I wanted to eventually spend the rest of my life with.  I was about to go away with friends to Portugal to celebrate my 60^th birthday and the third person who contacted me and asked me to go out for dinner was Richard. 

We went out on a Monday night and I was going away in the following days to Portugal knowing that when I came back I would have to quarantine for 10 days as per the Covid rules at the time.  It was a perfectly lovely evening but I didn’t expect to hear from him again.  However, he called me when I got back from holiday and although I was in quarantine, he came over to my flat (10 mins from his) and I saw him through the window as he delivered fresh fruit and vegetables to my door telling me that they would be good for my health! 

When we did eventually meet in person again we talked for many hours and it transpired that we had lived in various places quite near to each other and had also been at many London gigs together in the 1980’s albeit we had never met.  So, this was a relationship that was waiting 40 years to actually happen. 

Richard proposed to me in July 2025 and we bought a beautiful emerald from Holts Gems, who were so wonderful in helping us choose the right stone for us.

The excellent friendly and knowledgeable staff meant that we also didn’t hesitate when choosing where to purchase my wedding ring. We married at Islington Town Hall on Saturday 16^th May and are now living happily ever after.
