What do you do at Holts Gems?
Trainee gemmologist and jewellery advisor, I help clients to find jewellery and gemstones by providing gem and jewellery guidance and advice. I also write insurance valuations for jewellery, deal with trade enquiries and online orders, liaise between shopfloor and lapidary workshop and help oversee the general smooth-running of our shop.
What special skills do you bring to Holts?
I love to spend time with clients looking for a special piece of jewellery or gemstone that looks great on them and that they can wear with pride and confidence. I will give my advice about what suits someone, and sometimes even get them to consider something they never would have had the confidence to wear before.
If you could design & make jewellery for any one person, who would it be and why?
Elizabeth Taylor, because you could really use your imagination and give your creativity free roam, and she’d always pull it off.
What's your favourite gemstone?
Watermelon tourmaline, preferably a slice. Or a diamond slice. Any kind of slice.
What’s your ‘top tip’ for customers?
If you have no idea what you’re looking for, we will of course help you find the perfect piece, but it can be quite overwhelming having so many options so do a little research before coming in.
