Opal is actually a type of hardened silica gel which forms in relatively low temperatures in sedimentary rocks, the most typical being ironstone. There are 5 main categories of Opal, they consist of; White Opal, which has a white bodycolour and light play of colour, Black Opal, which shows a dark blue, grey or black body colour and a varied flash, Fire Opal, which is reddish-orange colour sometimes displaying flash, Water/Jelly Opal which shows a myriad of coloured flashes in a completely colourless body colour and lastly Boulder Opal, which shows flashes weaving in-between the ironstone matrix.

Opal is meant to enhance healing forces and innocence within the wearer.
