November - Topaz

Pure Topaz with no trace elements present is colourless and transparent; however Topaz is typically yellow, yellow-brown, brown and reddish orange. Precious Topaz is orange in colour and is the traditional November Birthstone. Whereas Imperial Topaz is yellow in colour. There are several theories surrounding the origin of the word ‘Topaz’. One is that the Roman Pliny the Elder, a naturalist and natural philosopher, suggested that it was derived for the Greek ‘topazos’ meaning ‘to search’.

Topaz is meant to enhance levels of healing and bring about constancy within the wearer.
