Garnet is a group of gemstones which range widely in colour, from the treacle coloured Hessonite to the vibrant grassy green of Demantoid. However due to its prolific use in Victorian jewellery, the dark red Pyrope Garnet is the most recognized today.
The name Garnet is believed to have derived from the Latin ‘Punica granatum’ or ‘Pomegranate Seeds’, as Garnet crystals display a similar size, shape and colour to the seeds of a Pomegranate.
Garnet is believed to enhance faithfulness and commitment within the wearer.
